2024 - ONE YEAR!

March-April

We celebrated our 1st anniversary by starting the process of moving into a new location!

May

We began opening our doors to the community! Fidelis Care, Wellcare Medicare, and NY Life Insurance have set up shop to help serve the community!

We also attended Lyons’ Wine Walk event.

June-July

We are getting things rolling! Henny O’Connor has joined the crew, as well as Beverly Tomkins with Fidelis Care!

We also attended the Lyons Peppermint Days festival- as UWS and Fidelis Care!

August-September

August, we were a part of the Lyons Pickleball Club Tournament as the recipients of a portion of their fundraising efforts, and that was a fantastic tournament! September, we had our OFFICIAL grand opening celebration with ribbon cutting!

October

We started the month at Lyons’ annual Pumpkinpalooza to share the fall festivities! We also attend the Wayne County Opioid Task Force as their guest speaker, to share what UWS is all about. October was the month we partnered with Wayne County Aging & Youth to collect items for youth experiencing homelessness. Throughout these months, we have supported various community members and collaborated with many organizations here in Wayne County. We are humbled by the support we receive and are able to give back to the community.

November

November was #YouthHopeMonth, so UWS partnered with Wayne County Department of Aging & Youth and Fidelis Care, and we created #BagelsAndBlankets to raise awareness and donations for youth homelessness. Channel 13WHAM News did a report on the event as their “Bright Spot” report: Bright Spot: Bagels & Blankets.

UWS also received a large donation of snacks and drinks from the New Life Assembly of God Church in Lyons. These items were utilized to help Wayne County families through the UWS, Dept. of Aging & Youth, Family Promise of Wayne County, and Helpful Hearts.

Wayne County Public Health and the Wayne County Opioid Task Force provided UWS with a Narcan box to keep at the office for ease of access to preventive care.

We met with PathStone Housing Counsel to hear more about what they do for the community, coordinated with Clifton Springs CPEP to begin utilizing their services more regularly for mental health crisis calls, and have created partnerships among organizations such as Aging & Youth, Helpful Hearts, Family Promise, the LDSS, NYS Troopers as they have been calling UWS for resource support, and many, many more! We are wrapping up the year with new insights and ideas for ways to keep Wayne County moving forward and accountable for its services.

December

WRAP while you RAP event was held on 12/6 and 12/20 where staff and participants wrapped gifts (kids made crafts for their parents) and participants were educated on community-wide resources available.
